Cranes, Rollers and Raptors: an epic Birding and Wildlife Tour through Eastern South Africa and Swaziland
(12th - 25th November 2011)

African Fish Eagle
This is one of our favourite itineraries and includes a remarkable range of habitats and scenery within a relatively small area, with the bulk of the tour taking place within one province: Mpumalanga. The tour starts in the grassy highlands, where endemics are particularly rich, then moves to the awesome Blyde River Canyon where several major habitats converge before levelling out in the vast Kruger National Park, where things really hot up as far as birds and mammals go. From there we head south into the Kingdom of Swaziland and then into KwaZulu-Natal, home of the Zulu Nation, where we stay in Mkhuze Game Reserve. Our final stop is in Wakkerstroom, an endemics hot-spot in southern Mpumalanga, where we spend two nights before finishing off back in Johannesburg. Upcoming tours for 2011 and 2012:

Penguins and Sugarbirds: Birding the Western Cape; 2 - 10 September 2011.
Cape Peninsula, Swellendam, Ceres and the Tankwa Karoo, West Coast National Park.

Highlights include special birds such as Blue Crane, Cape Rockjumper, Cape Siskin, Cape Suagrbird and Orange-breasted Sunbird, not to mention fantastic scenery, culture, history and cuisine.

From the mountains to the savannah: Escarpment and Kruger National Park; 3 - 11 April 2011; 9 - 17 November 2011.
Dullstroom, Blyde River Canyon and Kruger National Park (a firm favourite!).

Highlights include fantastic birding (300 + species is a reasonable target) combined with big game viewing and incredible scenery. A tour not to be missed!

KwaZulu-Natal: Birding Zululand and the Elephant Coast; 11 - 21 February 2012.
Mkhuze Game Reserve, St Lucia, Ithala Game Reserve and Wakkerstroom.

This is another incredibly diverse tour that promises to deliver a substantial bird and mammal list. When combined with the previous two tours it'll be a comprehensive South African birding experience.

Across the Great Karoo: Birding the Eastern Cape; 1 - 12 March 2012.
Addo Elephant, Mountain Zebra, Camdeboo, Karoo and Garden Route National Parks.

Something a little different.... the Eastern Cape Province is relatively unknown among international birders yet offers an incredible amount of diversity, such that it is the only province with all seven of South Africa's biomes. A must for those on repeat visits to South Africa.

Namibia: seeking the desert endemics; Dates and exact itnerary to be announced.

Namibia is making a name for itself as a prime birding and wildlife destination. This tour aims to bag all the endemics and specials and includes the superb game viewing in Etosha National Park. We have to say that this is another tour not to be missed!
